What is Assafora and what makes it unique?
Assafora is a curated online platform dedicated to handmade ceramics and objects that honor cultural heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. Every piece is made by artisans who work with time, skill, and intention — not mass production. We believe the objects in our homes should carry a story and a presence, not just a function.

Where are Assafora’s products made?
Our collection is sourced directly from artisans, mainly in Portugal, south of France, Morocco and other regions with strong craft traditions. Every item is made in small batches using time-honored techniques.

Products & Craftsmanship

Are all your products handmade?
Yes. Every piece is handmade, meaning no two items are exactly alike. The small variations in color, shape, or texture are part of what makes each object unique and special.

How do you ensure the quality of your ceramics?
We handpick every single piece ourselves. Quite literally — each item passes through our hands before it ever reaches yours. We travel to meet our artisans in person, visit their workshops, and carefully select the pieces that feel just right. This way, we can guarantee that what you receive is not only beautiful, but also made to last.

Are there small variations between items?
Yes — and that’s exactly the beauty of handmade work. Slight differences in glaze, shape, or surface are not flaws but a celebration of individuality. They reflect the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi — finding beauty in imperfection and uniqueness. Each variation is a reminder that your piece was shaped by human hands, not machines.

Ordering & Shipping

Where do you ship to?
We currently ship across the European Union. For destinations outside the EU, we’re happy to arrange special shipping upon request — just email us at info@assafora.com and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

How long will my order take to arrive?
Orders are typically processed within 2–3 business days. Delivery time depends on your location and chosen shipping method.

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the size/weight of your order.

Care & Use

Are your ceramics dishwasher and microwave safe?
Most of our mugs and plates are safe for use in the dishwasher and microwave, unless otherwise noted on the product page. We recommend gentle cycles and avoiding sudden temperature changes. For vases, larger serving bowls, and decorative pieces, we do not recommend using them in the dishwasher or microwave, as these are meant for display and careful everyday use.

How do I care for handmade ceramics?
The most gentle way is to wash with mild detergent, avoid abrasive sponges, and handle with care to preserve the glaze and finish.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?
You can return unused items in their original packaging within 14 days of delivery. Please see our Returns Policy page for full details.

What if my item arrives damaged?
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with photos at info@assafora.com
