Our Story
Assafora came to life when I decided to slow mine down...
Constantly chasing something, I simply stopped. A week after I quit my job I found myself standing in a small village in Lombok, Indonesia, watching a local woman shape clay with her bare hands — no wheel, no machinery, just her touch and her craft. Something that was already inside clicked into place. Objects rooted in tradition carry something manufactured ones simply cannot — a presence, a story, a soul, a skill passed down through generations.
From that moment the brand grew subconsciously. It was finding me on the road trip through Europe — through the south of France, through Portugal. I sought local artisans, listened to their stories, learned about their craft. I filled my van with ceramics on a dirt road by the ocean and drove them home, to Prague. A village sign along the way gave Assafora its name.
As this is a small business, every piece passes through my hands before it reaches yours. Every artisan is visited in person, every object chosen based on its story. The vision is larger than ceramics, but it's going to be built slowly, sustainably. Human connection and the preservation of traditions that risk being forgotten come first.
When you choose to bring any of our objects into your home, you are not just acquiring a piece of decor. You are becoming part of a story, a moment — asking you to slow down.
